10 Things I Want To Do

    A few things I want to do in my life. . . . .

    1. Find my purpose- we all have a divine reason for being here!
    2. Spend time in HAWAII- aloha!
    3. Take ballroom dancing lessons
    4. Learn to paint
    5. Visit Scottland and Ireland
    6. Learn to play an instrument, maybe the fiddle- not the violin :)
    7. Learn to sign
    8. Silly- but I would like to go to a sitcom taping
    9. Open and run a Christian summer camp
    10. Find a way to truly help people, using the abilties and spiritual gifts I have.

    Yada, Yada, Yada. . . . .

Lately (As if you couldn't tell) I have absolutley nothing to say. Everything is good, we're all fine, just kind of blah when it comes to "spacin". I hope you all are doing well, if you have time you should stop by Lana's space, she is featured on the Best Of this week. I've been getting our Christmas decorations out this week, we will put our tree up this weekend, and it's begining to look a lot like Christmas.......  I'm sure I'll have something to say soon!

    Company's Coming

My Mom ans sister are coming down today, to spend the weekend- yay! It's always nice to have them down for a few days :) I need to go clear out our guest room, unfortunatley it's become more of a catchall room than anything. Gotta go de-clutter!

    Christmas Shopping

I love Christmas shopping. Every year I vow that I will begin my shopping in January or at least by February, and that way it's not so much all at once. Well that hasn't happened yet but last year I started in October, and this year I started in September, so maybe by 2013 I'll meet my goal lol. I love two things about Christmas shopping:
    A. finding the perfect gift for someone and B. finding a great deal. I probably spend too much time picking out the right present, but I want it to be something the recipient will truly enjoy. I am not someone who can just go "pick something up"-   I'll be a while. I've made a good dent in my shopping, I'm probably 30% finished and my Christmas cards andready to go, I just need to update some addresses and get stamps. I'm already thinking about how I want to decorate and it's not even November yet, I think if we were gazillionaires I would desigante one of our gazillion rooms a Chirtsmas themed room, heck maybe a Christmas wing lol. I hope you all have a great day!!!

    Dryer Safety

Hi everyone, my mother in law emailed this to me and I had never heard of this before- it definitley seemed worth passing along!

    Dryer Safety . . .

    > I had a wonderful morning, the heating unit went out on my
    > dryer!  Why does everything seem to fall apart this time of
    > year!???
    >
    > The guy that fixes things went into the dryer
    >  and pulled out the lint filter.
    >
    > It was clean. We always clean the lint from the filter after every
    > load of clothes.
    >
    > He told us that he wanted to show us something.
    >
    > He took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it.
    >
    > Now, the lint filter is made of a mesh material - I'm sure
    > you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like.
    >
    > WELL......the hot water just sat on top of the mesh!!! It didn't
    > go through it at all!!!
    >
    > He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's
    > what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's
    > there.
    >
    > This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire potentially
    > burn your house down with it!  He said the best way to
    > keep your dryer working for a very long time (& to keep your
    > electric bill lower) is to take that filter out & wash
    > it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush)
    > at least every six months.
    >
    > He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long!
    >
    > How about that???!!!! Learn something new everyday!
    >
    > I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought
    > I'd share!
    >
    > Note: I went to my dryer & tested my screen by running water on
    > it.
    >
    > The water ran thru a little bit but mostly collected all the water
    > in the mesh screen.
    >
    > I washed it with warm soapy water & a nylon brush & I had it
    > done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it the
    > water ran right thru the screen!
    >
    > There wasn't any puddling at all!
    >
    > That repairman knew what he was talking about!
    > This is information worth passing along.
    > NOT ONLY COULD IT SAVE SOMEONE'S HOME, BUT IT
    >COULD SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE.

    GUESS MY AGE

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! Join me for a little birthday game won't you? I don't think I've mentioned my age, and I'm curious about how old all of my space friends think I am- you can't offend me so guess away, I don't think anyone can nail it......

    Fall Is Around The Corner

I have just finished putting out all of my fall decorations and I love them. If those cool fall temps would just follow suit I would be thrilled. I just repositioned the kitchen table and with one pivot it actually looks much bigger, funny how moving a piece of furniture can change a room.

I don't know if any of you have seen the previews for Reese Witherspoon's newest movie "Just Like Heaven", but I can't wait to see it, it looks really good. My birthday is Friday and thats always a great time for a movie  Have any of you ever noticed how many September birthdays there are? Apparently late December and January are fertile months lol.

My sweet husband just got me both the Mr. Men and Little Miss Book sets for my birthday and I love them. He had to track them down online and order them from amazon UK I think. They are children's books and I wanted them to collect for myself and to read to our child(ren). Okay, okay I've been reading them to myself too lol.

    Home Sweet Home

It feels so good to sleep in my own bed! On Tuesday afternoon we decided to go to Boone for a few days, we were rolling out as Hurricane Ophelia was rolling in. We had a nice trip and I never feel at home like I do when I see that sign going into town. My family lives in the same community they lived in for over 200 years, to say we are deeply rooted there is putting it mildly, in fact most of the people that live there have those same deep roots. Of course there are the newbies that have only been there for a mere century. I know a LARGE majority of the people that live there, if not by name at least by face. Who says you can never go home again? It's nice. Still it's nice to be home with my things and my bed. I hope you all have a great day!!!
    September 16

    We're fine!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're fine, we went home to Boone in the mountains for a few days, we will be going back on Sunday- thanks to everyone that prayed for us!!!!

    One point

I got my test score in the mail today, until now I knew that I didn't pass but I didn't know what I got. To pass the  Real Estate Licensing exam you must get an 87.... I got an 86. That is less than 1 question from passing- ahhhhhh, can you believe that? Oh well, everything happens for a reason. I did sleep well last night lol, so thanks everyone that asked. I have so enjoyed having the last three days at home with Trey, he works so much it was great having some down time with him. I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day- Sleep Tight.

    A Good Night's Sleep

I went to sleep at 4:30 this morning, that's right 4:30- AM. It was one of those nights when I couldn't wait to go to bed and fall into a peaceful sleep and wake up nice and rested. That was my first mistake.

I tossed and turned for a while, made the required trip to the bathroom, checked my bathroom mirror for signs of undereye wrinkles- yep still there. Since I was already up I crept down the hall to check on Gracie (she's doing great in her new toddler bed, she hasn't gotten up even once). . . . . hmm did we shut the garage door? Garage door- check.  Porch light on- check.

Back to bed. . . . . it's now 1 am, thinking about sleep. . . . . thinking about sleep. . . . . thinking about making a faux headboard with a pretty fabric. . .  thinking abut how to attach said headboard without making holes in the wall. Maybe I should take the over the counter sleep aid I bought and haven't seen since...... Hmmm not in the medicine cabinet, not under the bathroom sink, not on any of the bathroom shelves, ahah there it is in my misc. bathroom basket catch all. If I take this will I be able to get up in the morning? Maybe I shouldn't take it since it's already 2 am......

I think I'm thirsty, yeah definitley thirsty, a can of diet dr. pepper should do, glug glug glug- oh no this has caffeine! Are you getting the picture? I watched my recorded Big Brother 6 episode, checked my email (The only person that sends me email at 3 am is Diane from SC Johnson Wax whoever she is, with her blatant insinuation that I need cleaning tips) and forced myself to go back to bed. Needless to say at 4:30 I finally went to sleep. . . . .  That's what you get when you decide to get a great night's sleep lol.

    Grumble Guilt

    Good Morning,

Does anyone else feel guilty today? Guilty as we take the basics for granted- at least I have been. Getting up this morning and taking a hot shower (I wanted to stay in bed), cooking breakfast for my family (I grumbled in my mind about not being appreciated), I have plenty of laundry and cleaning to do today (I dread it).

But then I thought about the people hit by Hurricane Katrina, how they would love to pull themselves from the comfort of their warm bed, step into a hot shower and have the ability to walk into a kitchen full of food and prepare a meal for their family. Surely they would even feel blessed to have clothes to wash, floors to clean, and furniture to dust.

I am so blessed and I thank God for each of those blessings and I pray that blessings abundantly would be bestowed upon all of the "misplaced" people in the Gulf.

    Mamaw & Papaw's House

When I think about home there is a very specific image that comes to mind. My Grandparents house situated up on the hill, the creek winding beside the road, big maple trees and boxwoods lining the yard. I suppose I correlate "home" with that house, and that place bc it has always been in my life, and my family's life for the past 55 years at least. While I didn't move a lot as a child, I didn't spend my whole life in the same house, but that house and that place has supplied such a sense of belonging. When I drive up that road and come over the hill, there the house is, like it's been waiting on me to come back.

There used to be a big maple tree in their front yard, there was a sturdy straight branch that came out of that tree, and all of my cousins used to swing on it- but I was too short.  I waited for the day I was tall enough to stretch my hands up and grab ahold of that branch- the summer I was almost there the tree was hit by lightning and uprooted from the ground.

I really love that house, I have so many fond memories there. Anyway I was just thinking about it this morning and wanted to share!

A New Book, Class, & Sunday

I finished my book a few days ago, I actually liked it more than I thought I would ("American Girls About Town"), I am now reading a new book called "Shem Creek", I'm only on the 2nd chapter so it's still hard to tell if I'm gonna love it or not.

Class has been rough lately, finding out that 3/4 of the class typically fails the first licensing exam doesn't  help. . . . . or that a neigboring county class just took their's- and only 6 out of about 40 people passed.  It's so much more than I thought it was. I was thinking along the lines of "Oooh look at the pretty house, isn't it perfect, oh you wanna buy it? Great!" I need major prayers!

I hope you all have a great Sunday, think of me as you sleep in, attend church, lounge around, and otherwise enjoy yourselves. . . . .Goodnight.

    A Poem for Gracie

My teenage sister wrote this precious poem about my sweet baby girl.  Considering that the subject is my daughter, and the writer is my sister- I of course cry when I read it. Never have I read such truth in any poem, not just about my daughter, but all children. I love you Gracie, I love you Bethany- I'm certain that you will never know how much.

    Gracie

She has an innocence that lights up a room
    her laughter sounds so pure
because at two years old she has not yet been corrupted
with the problems of the world
with eyes that dance across a room
    so filled with wonder
    she knows no wrong
I know that in all of her beauty and grace
    behind those innocent eyes
that deep within her is this knowledge
    that I no longer possess
the knowledge that everyone is truly equal
and that there is good in every person
even on the worst day, her smile
lightens the load on my heart
she is pure joy and happiness
she sees me simply as I am
she doesnt see all that I've done wrong
or all the hateful words I've said
    she knows none of that
    in you or in me
    not in any person
I wish for her to never change
that she would always possess this simple innocence
but I know that soon, time will win
and the candle that is this innocence
    will flicker out-
    but for a time
shes the brightest among us all

    Monday. . . . .

    Good Morning Everyone,
I started my book and apparently I was in a big hurry when I bought it. It's a compilation of short stories instead of one long read. It's okay so far but by the time I form an attachment to a character- the story is over, UGH.

This weekend was rough, as you know I now have Real Estate class, saturday and sunday from 9-5. It is so much harder than I imagined, most of the things we are learning we will only have to know for the exam, but we are all on information overload! A 600 page book is hard to memorize in a month, and according to our instructor the only way to pass is to memorize it. So many laws, and dates, some laws vary only by one word making it easily confusable with another law......

We got Gracie a toddler bed last night and I suppose tonight will be her first night in her "big girl" bed. Strangely this saddens me....... She's only 2 but it feels like she is already growing up. She has started calling me "baby" sometimes, bc that is what her daddy calls me- it is soooo funny! I called them yesterday during a break from class, and when she hung up she said "I love you baby!" So cute. . . . .

    Saturday Night Fever

Hey everybody- Just stopping in to say hi. Had another long day of class with another one ahead of me tomorrow. It's been hard being away from Trey on Sunday, since that is the only day he ever has off :( Woe is me, I am woe . It'll be over soon though :) I can't wait to have my weekends back  I hope you all have a GREAT night in Blogdom. Goodnight!!!

    Messy Messy Messy

I have so much to do. With everything that has gone on in the past week, my house has of course, taken the back burner. What a mess we have! I have so much to do today I don't even know where to start. The laundry, the kitchen, the bathrooms, the living room, the bedrooms. . . . . I guess I just need to jump on in and get it done. What? I most certainly am not procastinating. . . . .

    Study Study Study

I would like to reiterate, that the commission is ALWAYS negotiable, I am learning that this is an IMPORTANT NC law- again funny picture hahaha- ALWAYS negotiable.

I really should be studying right now. My Real Estate Exam is the 27th. I signed up for the NC Broker's course yesterday, so I am definitley in (standing room only), which begins in November, so God willing I will be a full fledged Broker by the end of this year. I'm really excited/nervous about everything, this is a whole new ball game for me! I appreciate everyone that has left words of encouragement for me, they are both needed and appreciated :)

Gracie is not accustomed to being away from me, and now that I am gone all day on the weekend it is nice to see how happy she is to be with me when I get home. I am glad that she and her daddy are getting this bonding time though

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone :) I hope you have a wonderful evening!!!
